Okay, I love French movies. Especially romantic comedies. They are witty, funny, and sweet, just like my false impression on French men. (ahem) But i'm not gonna pretend that i know everything about them because i am more knowledgeable or i have an exquisite taste so that i can appreciate them more like some snobs; i'm just going to come clean and admit that i don't know what this movie is all about.
When the film ended, i heard a boy behind said, "Actually i don't understand it." and a girl answered, "Well, u know, it's just... like that."
I know she had no idea as well.
This is the kind of the chance you must take to see a French film. Sometimes it can be a wonderful experience when you just know it all only by a glimpse of a few scenes, or several lines of the character, even just a gesture or a look of his. You just know as if the director himself is speaking right to your face. Believe me, i did experience some fantastic moments. However, there are some other times that you can sit through the whole 120 minutes but feel... nothing. You know what charactors are doing and how they do it but u just don't know why.
That's exactly what i feel about this movie. I just can't relate to it. There's no connection. No vibe. Nothing.
So that's it. I've made my confession.
I'll see another two French movies tomorrow and it seems to me that they would be much more interesting. Hope i'll have better luck.
P.S. Gee i've been such a good girl posting reviews on my blog for EVERY film i've seen so far in this festival !!!
